Rules and Posting Policy
Mahan's Thermal Products Forum (MTP Forum) provides a civil online community where members of all backgrounds are welcome. In order to provide a civilized, non-hostile environment, MTP Forum has rules and posting policies by which all members are expected to abide. Violations of these rules and posting policies will result in prevention from entry and participation in the forums and their discussions.
Member Names and Private Information
MTP Forum does not require users to use their real names when making accounts. As such, MTP Forum does not prohibit nicknames, either. However, offensive nicknames are prohibited and posting user another member's name or pretending to be another member is also prohibited. Whenever a message is posted to a topic, the only information that is required for display is your member name. While no other information is involuntarily displayed, please exercise caution when revealing private information, for whatever reason, across public forums.
Discussion Topics
MTP Forum discusses a reasonable array of topics within the realm of heat transfer equipment, systems, and processes. When posting a message in a topic, please keep your message aligned with the current line of discussion. Since inqueries and replies to discussion are submitted to the forum and not privately between members, all viewers of the forum can benefit from the dicussion and the premise of being on-topic helps readers and participants to keep in line with discussion.
Inappropriate Content
Posting inappropriate images, offensive language, or links to inappropriate websites or images is prohibited. "Inappropriate" and "offensive" include, but are not limited to, sexually oriented language, sexually suggestive language, sexually abusive language, harassment, defamation, vulgarity, obscenity, profanity, racial material, ethnic material, or gender-based material. Being considerate to other members provides a civil environment for discussion.
Harassment and Flaming
MTP Forum prohibits the harassment or "flaming," the act of aggressively accosting another member based on their opinions or ideas, of other members. Transmission of unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, inappropriate, or offensive material is prohibited. Material which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, violate the rights of others, or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, national or international law is also prohibited. Please note that this also includes the posting of taunts on a forum solely for the purpose of deriding that forum's topic or its members.
Advertising and Solicitation
MTP Forum is not a venue for advertisement. Due to the industry-based nature of this forum, blatant advertisements or solicitations of or for business are prohibited. Members can address questions about their occupation or business, however. Spamming, wherein a member posts messages repeatedly, and posting for surveys are prohibited. Pyramid schemes and chain letters are not only prohibited, but also illegal. When mentioning products or services which are provided by a member, that information must be in line with the discussion at hand and the member must describe how they are affiliated with the product or service in that particular message.
Posting Images
MTP Forum members may be allowed to embed images in their messages by linking to an image that exists on another site. Members should also refrain from embedding any images of a sexual or offensive nature. If you are uncertain is an image is acceptable or not, that should signal to you that the image may be breaking the rules; you should probably hesitate from posting that image. Any links to clearly offensive or pornographic materials will be removed immediately and the member responsible for posting will be banned without hesitation.
Posting Links
MTP Forum policy on linking to other forums is pretty simple. Members may provide a link to any other site that provides information that helps answer another member's question or is just of general interest to members of that particular forum. One of the most basic tenets of the Web is the open exchange of information, and the MTP Forum forum managers wholeheartedly support this type of exchange.
Banning
MTP Forum does not moderate the forums twenty-four hours a day. As such, the community is expected to moderate itself with a professional level of maturity. MTP Forum reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to any part of these forums. If you violate any of the rules stated in this document or any other service terms documents, a moderator will remove the offending message and ban you. It is your responsibility to maintain a current, valid email address in your registration information so that our moderators can contact you in the event of a policy violation. Any member who violates our policies will be denied access to these forums, whether or not they were able to receive a message from a moderator stating the nature of the violation. Members of these forums are solely responsible for all content that they post on our site. MTP Forum shall have the right, but not the obligation, to correct any errors or omissions in any content, as it may determine in its sole discretion. MTP Forum further reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to delete or remove any user content from the site and to deny the access of any member to all part of this site, at any time for any reason without prior notice or liability. Please don't break the rules.
